Yes, it's here, our first Library of Change Exchange Podcast!
Our Exchange events are intimate opportunities for people involved in and interested in social, cultural and environmental change to come together and share what's inspired them and made them think recently. It's a book club where everyone brings something different, where intellectual stimulation is coupled with space for us to connect and find communal ground.
For our first Library of Change Exchange we asked our guests to bring a book/books that most influenced them in 2017. The podcast distils some of our favourite moments and, perhaps unsurprisingly, the common themes that wove together the contributions from participants who were open about the questions and events they had struggled with, and the texts that had guided them. Listen for intimate and moving contemplations on vulnerability and narrative, landscape and identity.
We were joined by an incredible group of guests:
Jo Hunter is the co-founder and CEO of 64 Million Artists. She is currently working on a book called Everyone Is Creative. Jo talks about the book Braving the Wilderness by Brene Brown.
Ella Saltmarshe is a writer and consultant, who co-founded The Point People and The Comms Lab; and creative campaigning initiatives, including SHEvotes and Time To Vote. Ella talks about The Myth Gap by Alex Evans.
Iben la Cour is a single mum of two living in London, with a background in the arts. She is now the proprietor of the vegetarian cafe The Ragged Canteen in Vauxhall. She also designs jewellery and other craft. Iben talks about The White Album by Joan Didion.
Jessica Russell is a scientist, writer and activist, specialising in climate science and international development. She has worked for the United Nations, international NGO's, human rights groups, and is a Climate Reality Leader. Jessica talks about the book I Am Malala by Malala Yousefzai.
Line Langebek, co-founder of Library of Change and a screenwriter for film and TV, as well as translator and lecturer. Line is also co-founder of campaign organisation Raising Films. Line talks about Landmarks by Robert McFarlane.
Elhum Shakerifar is an independent creative producer of documentary film and photography. Her work includes the award-winning documentaries A Syrian Love Story, Even When I Fall and Almost Heaven. She is also a festival programmer and an occasionally translator of Persian poetry. Elhum talks about The Hakawati by Rabih Alameddine.
Sholeh Johnston, co-founder of Library of Change and creative consultant, coach and writer. She is editor of CultureWatch at SufiJournal and Associate at JuliesBicycle. Sholeh talks about Neale Donald Walsch's Conversations With God.
